Why this one
Say the size, not the quality
Under 25 MB for an email, under 10 MB for a form, under 100 MB for a portal. The bitrate is worked out from the length of your video and the result lands under the number — measured across seventy-two combinations of target, length and audio, it never once went over.
It uses your machine's own video codecs
Most of what a browser can do in software runs slower than the video plays — a two-minute clip took nearly five minutes to re-encode that way. Handing the work to the hardware encoder your device already has took the same job from 4.7 minutes to 38 seconds.
Nothing is uploaded
Every other compressor on this page's search results sends your video to a server, which is why they queue you and ask for an account. This one reads the file from your disk, compresses it on your own machine, and hands it straight back. There is nothing to delete afterwards because nothing was ever sent.
The estimate is arithmetic, not a guess
You are told the exact output size before you start, because the bitrate is something the tool sets rather than something it hopes for. No sampling, no 'approximately', no surprise at the end.
Only the resolutions worth having
A 1080p video is never offered 1440p or 4K, because enlarging a video to compress it makes it bigger and blurrier at the same time. You see what your file can actually be reduced to and nothing else.
The audio is left alone
Video is the overwhelming majority of the bytes in a video file, so the soundtrack is copied across untouched rather than re-encoded. Faster, and it loses nothing.
Resolution first, quality second
Almost everyone reaches for the quality slider, and it is usually the wrong lever. Halving the height of a video quarters the number of pixels in every frame — a far larger saving than dropping quality at full size, and it generally looks better at the end of it, because the encoder has fewer pixels to spend its budget on and spends more on each.
In practice: if it is going to be watched on a phone, 720p is plenty and nobody will see the difference. If it is going on a website, 1080p at a modest bitrate beats 4K at a punishing one. Only keep the original resolution when the detail genuinely matters — screen recordings with small text are the honest exception.
And if the file will not shrink, that usually means it was already well encoded. A video straight out of a modern phone is close to as small as it usefully gets at its own resolution, so there is nothing left to remove without going smaller.

How do I compress a video?+

How do I get a video under 25 MB for email?+
Choose the 25 MB option and press Compress. The tool works out the bitrate from the length of your video and deliberately aims a little under, so the file that comes out fits. Most email services cap attachments at 25 MB, which is why that is one of the presets.
How do I compress a video for WhatsApp?+
Pick 10 MB or 25 MB and drop the resolution to 720p. WhatsApp re-compresses video you send it anyway, so sending it something already small and already the right resolution gives a better result than sending a large file and letting WhatsApp decide.
Will compressing ruin the quality?+
Some quality is always lost — that is what compression is. How much depends on how far you push it: halving the size of a phone video is usually invisible, and squeezing a ten-minute 4K clip into 10 MB is not. The page shows you the output size before you commit, and the result appears next to the original so you can judge it yourself before downloading.
Is my video uploaded to a server?+
No. The compression uses your browser's own video codecs, and where those are unavailable it falls back to a full build of FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly — both run on your machine. The file never leaves your device, which is also why there is no limit on how many videos you compress.
How long does it take?+
Measured on a 1080p video: about 38 seconds for a two-minute clip and under three minutes for a ten-minute one, using your machine's video codecs. MP4 and MOV files in an up-to-date browser take that fast path. Other formats fall back to software and take roughly five times longer — the page tells you which one your file is getting before you start.
What are the limits?+
About 500 MB and 20:00. The work happens in a browser tab, which has a memory ceiling and a patience ceiling — and duration matters more than file size, because that is what the time actually depends on.
What formats can I compress?+
MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM, MKV and AVI go in; MP4 comes out. MP4 and MOV get the fast path. The output is always MP4 because it is the format that plays everywhere — this is a compressor rather than a converter, and keeping those two jobs separate keeps both of them simple.
Should I lower the resolution or the quality?+
Resolution first, almost always. Halving the height of a video quarters the number of pixels, which is a far larger saving than turning the quality down at full size and usually looks better at the end of it. A 1080p video shown on a phone loses nothing visible at 720p.
Why is my compressed file not smaller?+
Because it was already efficiently encoded. A video exported by a modern phone or editor is close to as small as it usefully gets at that resolution, so asking for the same resolution at a similar quality has nothing left to remove. Drop the resolution, or set a target size, and the tool will tell you the output size before you spend the time.
Do I need an account?+
No. Everything works without one and there is no limit on how often you use it.
